INT. KITCHEN – ELISE’S HOME – EARLY MORNING

Long shot of the kitchen. It is empty, almost silent. Faintly in the background you can hear the ticking of a clock. The kitchen is decorated and clean, quite meticulously cared for. It is filled with small potted plants of sorts and a number of pieces of electrical equipment such as a kettle and a small radio.

ELISE BROOKS enters through the doorway. She is a young woman, in her early-mid-twenties. She has a natural beauty about her, her dark hair is tied up in a messy, un-styled bun. Her face is bare of makeup, with dark circles under her eyes. She smiles slightly as she walks towards one of the counters, stopping as she reaches the small radio that is plugged in at the corner of the room. Her slippers ruffling quietly as she moves toward her destination. She is wearing her pyjamas, a mismatching set. She presses the power button on the radio, and puts the sound on low. Classical music can be heard quietly, it is joyful and upbeat. ELISE moves over to the kettle and sets it up to boil. She places down on the table an object she has been carrying; a baby monitor. The light is green, the monitor on but no sound is coming from it. ELISE goes about making her cup of tea, a peaceful environment is created in the room.

A cry calls out from the baby monitor, it is desperate. The baby has woken. Elise stops preparing the tea and turns towards the doorway but immediately stops in her tracks.

ALICE RAYN stands, idle in the doorway, a large kitchen knife is in her hand. Her face is not visible, her identity is not shown to the audience. ALICE begins to attack ELISE, the classical music gets louder and more erratic. The angles change quickly, it is disorienting.

The camera cuts to the kettle as we hear a loud scream. The kettle boils and blood is splattered over the table.

CUT TO BLACK

ALICE RAYN

Shhh. Its ok- I’m here. Mummy’s here.

CUT INTO: KITCHEN

We see the dead body of ELISE BROOKS. She is motionless. Her body is strung up by red string, giving it the effect of a puppet. Blood has stained her skin, which is now cold and pale. She is set up as if she is making a cup of tea, her body drooping against the restraints.

 CUT TO BLACK

END.
